Last Friday the students in Banksia 1, 2 and 3 stood confidently on stage to host the Bull Creek Primary School assembly. They sang the song ‘I Am Australian’. This song is about people coming from different countries to all live in Australia together. The children used some Noongar words instead of English words when singing. Noongar people have lived in the South West of Western Australia for more than 45,000 years. Bull Creek is Whadjuk Noongar country. We accompanied our singing by using Australian Sign Language (Auslan). Auslan is the language of the deaf community in Australia and is used by people who are deaf or hearing impaired. It is used by almost 20,000 people each day. The students did an AMAZING job and were feeling very proud of their efforts. What superstars! How lucky we are to live safely in this country that we all share.
