On Wednesday 6th June, Fleur Aris and Nichola Middlemiss ran the FRIENDS Resilience workshop again for all Parents and Caregivers.
Below is a photo of our participants practising their “milk-shake breathing” technique.
Dear Parents and Caregivers – WE ARE RUNNING THIS WORKSHOP AGAIN!
This year the FRIENDS Resilience programs will again be implemented across all classes at all three sites (Fun FRIENDS K-2 and FRIENDS for Life 2/3).
The FRIENDS Resilience programs are structured programs that help children to cope with feelings of fear, worry and anxiety by teaching skills that help reduce emotional stress. It also teaches children how to build social skills and resilience as well as how to celebrate successes. These are important skills that will assist your child when they are coping with challenges at school now and when they transition to their mainstream school in the future. They also provide assistance later in life, helping your child to become more brave and confident as they navigate their way through life.
Parental support and consolidation at home are critical to the success of the program, so please come along and have a cuppa and learn how you can help. This workshop is fun, dynamic and educational at the same time.
The workshop session will be held at Fremantle LDC Willagee site (Caralee) on:
DATE: Wednesday 6th June 2018
TIME: 9.30 – 10.30am
VENUE: 24 Winnacott Street, Willagee
We are looking forward to seeing you there.

If you would like to join us, please download the attendance slip and return to your child’s teacher as soon as you can.
A crucial factor in your child’s reading and spelling success is their oral language. At the beginning stages of learning to both read and spell it is vital that children are able to ‘tune in’ to the sound structure of our spoken language.
The Fremantle Language Development Centre ensures the students are provided with multiple opportunities to practise their sound awareness skills. However, parental support and consolidation at home are critical to the success of the programme so please come along and learn how you can help.
The workshop session will be held at Caralee Community School on:
Date: Wednesday 23rd May, 2018
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Venue: Fremantle LDC Beeliar site (Beeliar PS)
86 The Grange, Beeliar
The Fremantle Language Development Centre P&C meeting will run from 7:30pm – 8:30pm at the Beeliar site, following this parent talk.
I look forward to seeing you there,
