OT week is celebrated around Australia from the 21-27th October. This week not only recognises the role of OT’s in the community, but also people we partner with to provide support.
At the Fremantle LDC the role of the OT focuses on the functional activities of the children within the school environment, aiming to equip children with the ability to engage in meaningful activities of their choice in their adult life.
Some of the areas OT supports the students at the Fremantle LDC include handwriting skills, gross motor skills (for sport and play opportunities) and self regulation. Sessions aim to be fun, energising, goal directed and the “just right” challenge.
This term the OT students that are supporting the school will be running group programs, whole class Alert programs as well as lunch time activities. The lunch time games are available on a Tuesday and Friday to all children in year 1-3.
Special OT themed activities will be held during OT week by the OT students to help celebrate our profession, however if you do have any questions about OT and how it could support your child, your family and friends or community feel free to reach out, please let us know!
HAPPY OT WEEK!
