Occupational Therapy News: OT 2018

Well what a year it has been for OT! This year has been busy with lots of final year OT students coming to support the classrooms and provide intervention.

This year we continued with the Alert program in all classes and the children all seem to understand this concept really well. This term all children would have come home with their own mini “Alert Engine Meters”, so it would be great to see them being used at home over the holidays and maintaining that language until the new school year.

This year we also made great gains in the core strength of all the children. The target was to have 70% of all Kindy and Pre-Primary improve their strength and this was achieved. So make sure you keep up the dead ant and superman practice everyday!

Next year will look very similar for the OT program, with screening for new students occurring in term one, Alert programs for whole classes in term 1 and 4, intervention and support in term 2, 3 and 4 as well as the OT student program running the whole year.

It has been great working with the staff, students and families at the Fremantle LDC and I wish you all a restful but energetic summer break! Remember keeps those bodies moving, limit iPad and TV time … and just have fun!

See you in 2019!
