Principal News: Message from the Principals

Term 4 is a time of welcomes and farewells. This year the school had 98 referrals with offers of placement to 73 families. There have been 61 families who have accepted the placement in one of our kindergarten to year 1 classrooms for 2019.

It was lovely to see so many family and friends join us for our Leavers Assembly last week. This gave us an opportunity to celebrate successes and wish our exiting students farewell. There are 76 students who are exiting the Fremantle LDC to return to their local school of parent choice. These students will continue to be supported through our full transition program that provides individual meetings with the mainstream classroom teachers, professional learning, assistance in developing individual education plans if required and work shadowing opportunities at the Fremantle LDC. We will continue to support our exiting students by working closely in partnership with their new teachers.

I would like to thank and acknowledge the Chair of our School Board Jo Wiese and all the board members who have worked so hard this year to review our school processes and assist us to develop our new School Business Plan 2018-2020.

The plan outlines our four key focus areas:

  • Create successful student
  • Develop high quality teaching and leadership
  • Be a distinctive school
  • Develop positive behaviour and wellbeing

I would also like to recognise our wonderful P&C who have worked tirelessly this year to raise funds to buy additional resources for the school and provide events for our students. This term the P&C have helped fund the Halloween Disco, the Year 3 Big Day Out and book prizes for our students in year 1 to year 3. These book prizes go to a selected student who has consistently demonstrated our school values. We congratulate all prize winners.

As a school we can provide a learning environment but it is the support that the parents and carers provide that makes the essential difference in the gains that the children make. I would like to thank all parents, carers and volunteers for their support throughout this year.

We wish you a safe and fun filled holiday break and look forward to another successful year in 2019.
