Principal News: Term 2 Update

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you are enjoying this lovely weekend. Thank you to all the parents who have completed the survey on your intentions for your child attending school in the first few weeks of term. If you have not yet completed the survey, can you please do so as soon as possible so we can ensure we can plan as effectively as possible. https://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/s/FLDCAttendanceT2

I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know of a few things prior to school starting on Wednesday. As you can understand, these are unprecedented times that call for some unprecedented procedures.

The State Government has given parents a choice about whether their children return to school for face-to-face teaching or learning at home. This is a personal decision that is influenced by your family’s unique circumstances and we will support you in the decisions that are best for your family. Learning at home or school will begin on Wednesday 29th April. Here are a few important details:

  • Classroom teachers will be in touch with families learning at home on Tuesday afternoon via SeeSaw to give you the Learning at Home guidelines for the class.
  • Students who attend school will be taught a face-to-face program with their classroom teacher.
  • For those students who are learning at home, contact by school will be made each week by phone and/or online.
  • Parents are asked to drop their child/children at the school gate. Staff will be available to collect your child at these drop off locations and take them to class at the start of each day (from 8.30am).
  • Staff will take your child to the same pick up location at the end of each day. Please do not enter the school grounds. Specific details are below.
  • Cleaners will be in the school to regularly clean all hard surfaces and playground equipment throughout each day.
  • All staff will maintain strict hygiene requirements in their class (eg. handwashing routines, regular use of hand sanitiser).
  • Please provide your child with recess, lunch and a drink bottle of water. The canteen is not available until further notice.
  • If your child has any complex medical needs, please seek medical advice regarding attendance at school.
  • If your child is unwell/sick, it is essential that you keep them at home. Any children that are unwell at school will be isolated from their class and parents/carers contacted to collect them from the school immediately. I thank you for your understanding in this matter. Keeping our students and staff safe and well is our priority.
  • If your child catches the bus to and from school, please make sure you contact the bus service to ensure they are aware of your intentions during the first three weeks of the term. The bus service will not permit any child who is unwell to travel on the bus.

Student Drop off and Pick up
To ensure that physical distancing between adults is in place at schools, parents are requested to drop off and pick up their children at school gates. This is based on advice from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC). Please do not enter the school grounds. As we are 2 schools located on the same site, we will nominate drop off and pick up areas to
maximise physical distancing. We thank you for your patience around this. We will keep you updated of any changes to this plan should they occur. Please read the specific site information below.
