Principal News: Welcome to Term 2

We have had a magnificent start to Term 2! Although slightly different than usual, it has been wonderful to see so many of our students return to school very happy and eager to learn. Our students who are learning at home have done a great job in engaging in their learning. Thank you to all families for supporting your children through these different modes of learning during these different times. Our teachers have done an amazing job at ensuring the teaching and learning of all our students at school and at home.

The attendance so far has been gradually increasing since we started last week.

Wednesday 29th April: 56%
Thursday 30th April: 60%
Friday 1st May: 59.5%
Monday 4th May: 69.5%
Tuesday 5th May: 70.5%
Wednesday 6th May: 70.1%

Thank you to all our families for such a smooth start to the term. This would not have been possible without your support in the practices we have had to put into place to keep our students and staff safe. Our staff are extremely grateful for your support.

In an effort to get back to relative normality, we ran a virtual assembly for our students at our Willagee site this morning. Students remained in their classes but the Administration teams from both Caralee CS and our school, along with the School Councillors from Caralee streamed the assembly via WebEx and Microsoft Teams. TED made an appearance too, which was lovely for the students to see. This was an opportunity for us to recognise those students for making great choices so far this term and to receive a merit award or TED certificate. We will look at continuing this format in the coming weeks.

There have been no major announcements from the Department or Government this week regarding COVID-19 changes. However, there is likely to be an update on Friday so I will keep you informed on anything that may affect us.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are unsure of anything or if we can help and support you in any way.

Take care and stay well!

Kind regards
