This term the students have been provided with opportunities to develop their creativity and build confidence and resilience. These have included our Cultural Day, Book Week events, Art Exhibition, swimming lessons and sports day at all three sites. Once again our school participated in the Cockburn Central Education Network Art Exhibition at Atwell College. Our students produced some creative pieces of art work and it was a difficult task for teachers to choose only a few for exhibition. Congratulations to the students whose work was displayed, the art exhibition was a wonderful event that showcased the talents of our students.
Thank you to the 50 families who completed the 2018 Parent National School Opinion Survey. The data from this survey has been shared with both the school board and staff and will guide us in our future planning. While the overall feedback received has been very positive I do recognise that one or two parents have expressed some concerns. The school values parent feedback and myself and Viv are always available to discuss any concerns with parents. A copy of the survey will be uploaded on our website and a hard copy will be available at the front office.
Over the last few weeks of term the Teachers, Speech Pathologists, and Deputy Principals and I will be participating in IEP Review meetings. These meetings will review assessment data, student progress and will identify students who are seen to be ready to return to their mainstream school. Parents will be notified as soon as decisions are made and have the opportunity to meet with the school team to discuss the decision.
Term 3 has been busy and we have seen the usual sickness and health issues that come with children and winter. Despite this the students are to be congratulated on their positive attitude towards learning and the many gains they have made this term. I hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break with your children and we look forward to seeing them return healthy and re-energised on Monday 8th October.
