Principal News: 2019 Update

It is hard to believe we are drawing a close to 2019. Last week it was lovely to see so many families and friends come together at our Leavers Assembly to celebrate, congratulate and say farewell to our students who are leaving us to return to their local mainstream school. It was a great opportunity for us all to look back and reflect on the wonderful progress our students have made in the short time they have been with us.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school community in their support for me in my role as principal this year. It has been extremely rewarding for me to continue to be part of this amazing school, and I am now very excited to have been nominated as the successful applicant for the position permanently. As a result of that, I would like to congratulate Nichola Middlemiss who was successful in obtaining her permanency as a Deputy Principal, and Jennie Dawson who was also able to increase her permanency as Deputy Principal.

2019 has been another busy year as we continue to work through our Business Plan for 2018-2020. I would like to thank and acknowledge the Chair of our School Board Jo Wiese and all the board members who have worked very hard this year to support our review of school processes and progress towards our business plan targets.

I would like to thank all staff in their tireless efforts in working towards our school vision of “Being a school of excellence” and striving to achieve our targets in our four key areas of:

  • Creating successful students
  • Developing high quality teaching and leadership
  • Being a distinctive school, and
  • Developing positive behaviour and wellbeing

Each and every one of the staff at this school has a strong commitment to ensuring that they are up to date with the latest research and classroom practice to give our students the support and education they need.

I would also like to recognise and thank the dedicated group of parents and community members who have committed their time to being on our P&C. Their support and efforts ensure that our students continue to receive the programs and resources they need.

Parent Survey

I would like to thank all parents who provided their feedback in the parent School Survey at the beginning of this term. We had extremely positive responses and lots of support for our school. The feedback we received will be extremely valuable as we develop our School Improvement Plan from 2020.  This information will be shared early next year in the annual report. Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you wish to discuss any of the information you shared in the survey. Thank you.

Parent TV
Please take the opportunity over the break to engage with our wonderful ParentTV resources. If you haven’t yet accessed this online platform, please do. Contact the office today if you need the password. It is a website that has hundreds of videos from some of Australia’s and the world’s leading parenting educators across a vast number of topics.  As a parent of our school, this is available to you for FREE. Please contact the school for login details if you have misplaced the login flyer. We hope you continue to use these great resources.

I hope everyone has a happy, safe and fun-filled Christmas holiday and into the New Year. We look forward to the students returning on Monday 3rd February, 2020.
