DLD Awareness Day

18octAll DayDLD Awareness Day

Event Details

DLD Awareness Day is a day where people from around the world come together to raise awareness of
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). DLD is a diagnosis given to a person who has difficulty talking
and/or understanding language. The Fremantle LDC is a school for children who often meet the criteria for
DLD.
This year’s DLD theme is ‘Speak up for DLD’. DLD affects people around the world regardless of age,
gender, language spoken or ethnicity. On average 2 students in every class of 30 have DLD. Students with
DLD can succeed at school when they are identified and access the right support.
The students at Caralee CS and Fremantle LDC will be supporting DLD Day by wearing something purple or
yellow, which are the colours of DLD.
Date: Friday, 18 October 2024
What: Wear something purple or yellow! This could be a purple shirt, yellow socks, or coloured ribbons
in your hair
