YOU ARE INVITED TO A GERMAN “LATERNENLAUF”

Everyone from kindy to year 6 welcome! With or without lantern!

A “Laternenlauf” is a traditional wintertime activity in Germany where children and parents go for a walk in the evening when it’s dark, carrying their homemade or bought “Laternen” and sing little songs.

Our annual “Laternenlauf” will take place on Thursday the 12th of August, and is proudly supported by the P&C.

The “Laternenlauf” will start at 5.45 pm at the school (undercover area) and we will go for a little walk before coming back to school again. There you will have the opportunity to have a warm treat. The “Laternen”, which are made by the children, are given to the kids to take home so that they can bring them to the Laternenlauf.  Every child coming to this special event needs a parent/guardian to walk with them and their lanterns. It is recommended to bring a battery operated candle to put in the lanterns. (You can get little battery operated candles for very little money in places like Bunnings or the Reject Shop).

Looking forward to see you at the Laternenlauf,

Tanja Colgan, German Teacher
