Chickenpox

It has been confirmed that a child in our school community has chickenpox. You usually get chickenpox by breathing in the varicella virus that has been coughed or sneezed into the air by an infectious person. Chickenpox is highly contagious. If you have chickenpox you will be contagious (able to spread the virus) from up to 2 days before the red spots appear and until around 5 days after rash appears and until vesicles have formed crusts. You will stop being contagious when there are no new blisters or moist crusts forming on your body.

If you suspect you or your child has chickenpox please see your doctor for a diagnosis.

If you would like more information relating to chickenpox, please click the link below for the fact sheet from the health department. https://www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/~/media/HWA/Documents/Health-conditions/Chickenpox/Chickenpox-factsheet.pdf

A Message from the Bull Creek Primary School P&C

Thanks to all who attended our movie night on Friday night. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $2000! There were a few items left behind, 2 cushions, a Disney jumper and a white cardigan. These will be in the front office if you would like to collect.

Many thanks! Amanda

School Library

In order to implement the new library system, I need all students to return the library books they have on loan by Wed 24th as Data Migration procedures need to commence on Friday 26th Nov.

There is no further borrowing from the library for 2021.

I apologise for the early closure on borrowing as I know the students love coming to the library to borrow books, but this is unavoidable.

Your cooperation in reminding students to return their books ASAP would be very much appreciated.

Thank you, Nola Williams – Library Officer

A message from the Bull Creek Primary School P&C: Movie Night

Remember this Friday is the school movie night! Hotel for Dogs will be showing from around 7pm. Gates open 5.30pm. Tickets can be purchased from eventbrite.com.au or can be purchased on the night. Please note, there has been a slight change to the tickets – family tickets will be available for $40 on the night. EFTPOS is available.

The P&C are selling movie snacks – lolly bags, popcorn, ice creams, fairy floss and drinks. Bona Pizza will be there for you to order delicious woodfired pizzas for dinner from 5.30pm.

If it rains on the night, we will be relocating to the school canteen undercover area, so we can stay warm and dry! Bring your picnic rugs, bean bags or low chairs to make a night of it and support our P&C to raise money for new school iPads in 2022!

Thank you

Banksia 1, 2 and 3 Assembly

Last Friday we hosted the Bull Creek PS and Fremantle LDC assembly! The children sang the song ‘We All Sing with the Same Voice’, with a very special message about diversity. Thank you to all the families who came along to support our superstar singers. If you were unable to attend and would like a video copy of the assembly, please contact Mrs Hope on 6216 4415.

Last Tuesday the students in Banksia 2 joined our friends from Beeliar for an excursion to AQWA! We saw lots of different sea animals, learnt about the ocean and even got to touch some of the creatures in the touch pool.

Bull Creek Sculpture Walk

Earlier in the term we participated in the Bull Creek Sculpture Walk! It was fantastic seeing the children and their families enjoying the afternoon together. 358 people voted for their favourite entries. The People’s Choice Award went to the ‘Awesome Igloo’ made by the children in Banksia 1! Congratulations! Other popular entries were Mrs Hanson’s ‘Fairy Garden’, Hayley from Banksia 5’s ‘Endless Wishes’, Wattle 1’s ‘Jellyfish Chandeliers’ and Banksia 2’s ‘The Wagyl’. Another big THANK YOU to all of our families for donating milk bottles and coffee pods in preparation for the big day.

Sculpture Walk

Last week Bull Creek hosted our annual Sculpture Walk. There were some amazing creations from students and families! You might have spotted some amazing folded fish made by the children in Banksia 3, The Wagyl and clay fish created by Banksia 2, and the enormous igloo and ‘not so scary’ spiders by Banksia 1. We had fun exploring and locating all the different sculptures, as well as voting for our favourites. Many of our families stayed for a special picnic lunch too!

Thank you to all the families in the community for collecting milk bottles and coffee pods for Banksia 1 and 2 so that we could upcycle these products in a sustainable way.

World Teachers Day

On Friday we celebrated World Teachers Day! Thank you to the dedicated, passionate and caring teachers, education assistants, speech pathologist, chaplain and administration staff who support the success of our students each and every day. Thank you also to the P&C who kindly delivered coffees to our wonderful Bull Creek staff. What a treat!

Multicultural Food Tasting/Dress up Day

The Fremantle LDC and Bull Creek PS will be celebrating Multicultural Day in Week 5. On Wednesday 10th November we are asking parents to provide a small dish representing your culture/country of origin, for your child’s class to taste. This has always been a huge success in the past and we thank you in advance for your efforts!

We love celebrating diversity in Banksia 1, 2 and 3! In order for the children to learn about food from different areas and gain new insights into cultures around the world, we ask that you please provide the name of your dish, where it originates, the ingredients and any special information that you’d like to share.

As an allergy precaution, we remind you not to include nuts in your dish. If you wish for your food to be served hot, please drop it into your child’s class at 12.00pm on the day as we will be eating at 12.15pm (we will not have facilities to heat food on the day). We always have plenty of food so please just bring a small plate to share. If you are sending your dish on a plate/in a container that
needs to be returned to your home, please label it for easy identification. Please ensure that your children bring a plate, some cutlery and a cup in order to save on waste.

Please note: Your child will not need additional lunch on this day. If they have dietary requirements/ are a fussy eater and you would prefer to send them along with their normal lunch also, please do so.

Also we would like children, if possible, to wear something that represents the country or culture that their family had origins from. It may be traditional dress or colours that are associated with the country. Please note that singlets and thongs are not permitted or any form of beach wear.
