Sculpture Walk 2021 – Friday 12pm

The second ever Bull Creek Sculpture Walk will be open for viewing from 12pm this Friday 29 October 2021.

Classes have been working on creating sculptures during art class to display in the exhibition.

Family and friends are invited to the school from 12pm to go for an early stroll to see the art works. Children will remain in class until lunch time when they may then join you for a picnic lunch near the Banksia gardens/new under covered area at 12:30pm. Bring a picnic rug if you would like to.

Otherwise, you are welcome to come until the end of the day, but children will be back in class at the usual time after lunch at 1:15pm.

Collect a Mud Map of the sculpture trail and a People’s Choice award slip from just outside the front office. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite entry by placing your slip in the box before you leave!

We hope you enjoy the hard work that the exhibitors have put into the show and look forward to seeing you there.

The Fathering Project

Attention all Fathers and Father Figures!

You may already be aware that Bull Creek Primary School recently established a partnership with the ‘The Fathering Project’. Thank you to all who attended our ‘Pizza and Planes’ launch event night. It was an overwhelming success and we would like to continue seeking support and embracing this new initiative. We are asking all existing and new members of the Bull Creek fathering community to sign up to the dads group portal. Please use the QR Code attached to this notice. The portal is a place for communicating, keeping up to date with the latest news and events. It is also a location of some valuable fathering resources. In addition, any fathers/father figures who are keen to lead and assume a role as coordinator in the Fathering Project are encouraged to contact myself or Beeliar Primary School Principal, Ms Sharon Marchenko.

Thank you all again for your early support. We look forward to continuing to establish a strong network and supporting our fathers/father figures with their child’s journeys and progress.

Bull Creek News: Term 4 Update

Edu-Dance

We had a great first day at Edu-Dance last Thursday. Miss Winter (Edu-Dance teacher) has requested that the children bring along a soft toy as a prop for their dance for the rest of term. We request that you do not send in your child’s favourite toy, as it will stay at school until after our performance at Celebration Night on Monday 13th December. Toys approximately 20-30cm in size are fabulous, and they can be any shape (e.g. a teddy, watermelon or ball), as long as it is soft. If your child’s toy has a tag, please label it with their name in case we receive two toys that are the same. Many thanks!

Sculpture Walk 2021

Bull Creek Primary School will be hosting a Sculpture Walk on Friday 29th October (Week 3, Term 4)

Some classes have been working on creating sculptures during class to display in the exhibition, following the theme ‘Inspired Creations’. On the exhibition day, family and friends will be invited to the school from 12.00pm to see the art works and enjoy a picnic lunch on school grounds until 1.10pm.

Small sculptures will be exhibited in the undercover areas on trestle tables/on the stage. Large sculptures will be positioned within the school grounds, so you might need to go for a walk to find them!

The canteen is offering special ‘picnic lunch’ lunch orders on the day for students AND families. If you would like to place a lunch order, please do so via www.quickcliq.com.au prior to Monday 25th October.

If you will be coming along to the sculpture walk, or your child is having a lunch order, please let your child’s classroom teacher know via Seesaw or the communication book. The children who do not have families attending will have an opportunity to look at the sculptures with their teacher.

Kind regards,
FLDC staff and Mrs Perna (Bull Creek Primary School Art Specialist)

DLD Awareness Day

Last Friday we celebrated DLD Awareness Day. FLDC staff decked out the staff room in purple and yellow and put on our annual morning tea for the Bull Creek staff, taking the opportunity to provide important information and revision for teachers about Developmental Language Delay. We had a wonderful morning conversing and collaborating!

Bull Creek News: Kings Park Excursion

Djilba – The Transitional Season

The rains are becoming less frequent and the weather is starting to warm up. Noongar people would be slowly moving away from the hills and towards the waterways, where ‘booyi’ (tortoises), waterbirds, ‘nooruck’ (eggs), berries and root vegetables are the main sources of food.

As part of our continued priority to increase our knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture, the students in Banksia 1, 2 and 3 went on a special excursion to King’s Park yesterday. The Noongar Boodja Djilba event focused on educating students about Moort (family) and traditional life through the roles of Yorga (women), Maarm (men) and Kulunga (children), including bush medicine and cultural dance workshops, led by Aboriginal presenters.

The weather was beautiful. We had a great time

  • learning about local flora and creating a sensory bag using plants and essential oils
  • tuning into nature and revising the different language groups within the Noongar Nation
  • listening to the didgeridoo and stories about the weitj (emu), and participating in a ‘scary dance’
  • going on a scavenger hunt to find information around the park about the importance of nature to the Noongar culture
  • having a play in the Naturescape area, including some bush cooking/water play and climbing up the treetop snake bridge

What a busy day. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers Jamee, Melanie and Mrs Brooks for coming along to help us!
