Bull Creek News: 100 Days of School

The children at Bull Creek have been eagerly counting the days of school this year. Yesterday we celebrated our 100th day by completing a range of numeracy-based activities! We also combined classes in the afternoon to participate in some fun activities including

  • Talking about the future and discussing what we might look like if we were 100 years old
  • Making towers and constructions with 100 cups, 100 pieces of Lego etc.
  • Creating a ‘I rocked 100 days at school’ medal
  • Producing a special 100 Days bookmark

What an awesome day we had! We wonder if we will make it to 200 days this year…

Bull Creek News: NAIDOC Week at Bull Creek

This week the students in Banksia 1, 2 and 3 have been celebrating NAIDOC Week! NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We completed a range of activities following on from our National Reconciliation Week learning experiences. These included learning about:

  • Boomerangs
  • Aboriginal symbols and creating stories through artwork
  • Noongar language and different ways to say ‘hello’ in language groups all across Australia
  • Aboriginal yarns and the story of Tiddalick the frog

We had a great time talking, learning and playing together!
