This week the students in Banksia 1, 2 and 3 have been celebrating NAIDOC Week! NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We completed a range of activities following on from our National Reconciliation Week learning experiences. These included learning about:
- Boomerangs
- Aboriginal symbols and creating stories through artwork
- Noongar language and different ways to say ‘hello’ in language groups all across Australia
- Aboriginal yarns and the story of Tiddalick the frog
We had a great time talking, learning and playing together!
