The Beeliar PS Year 6 Graduation Committee will be holding a pyjama day fundraiser on the last day of Term 2.

Please bring a gold coin donation. All proceeds go towards the Year 6 Graduation.

TA3 on the new playground

The Year 3’s are very excited about the new monkey bar playground that has been added into the fitness track area for the Year 3-6 students. It is designed to be challenging and there is currently a roster (by year level) to allow all students to have a turn to play without overcrowding. Our day to play is currently on Friday.

TA2 – WALK TO THE SHOPS

On Tuesday the 25th of May TA2 went for a walk to the local shops. Our mission was to buy fruit to make fruit kebabs and to post letters to our pen pals in A6. In class we have been learning about fruit and vegetables and exploring the language skills and knowledge required to describe and talk about them. We set out on a beautiful sunny day and walked across the oval to the local IGA. We stopped to post our letters and then pulled out our shopping list. We walked through the shops looking for everything on our list and discussed all the different items you can buy at the shops and what they are all used for. When we returned to school, we cut up all the fruit and made some delicious fruit kebabs. We had a wonderful time and the children loved exploring their community.

TA3 & TA4 – ASSEMBLY REMINDER

A reminder for all TA3 and TA4 students to please bring your white short sleeve t-shirt to school as soon as you can. Our assembly is on Monday 28th June at 2.00pm and we would love to see all families come to watch our performance.

PARKING

Unfortunately Beeliar Primary School does not have an over-abundance of parking options for drop off and picking up. Some community members who live opposite the school have asked that parents please do not park on their verges. Not only can this be inconvenient to the householders, it can also create a danger for our students who walk on the grassed verges on their way to and from school. Please be conscious of where you are parking and find alternative parking spots other than the verges.

We want our students to be safe at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.

Sorry Day

On Wednesday 26th May the Fremantle LDC students joined with Beeliar PS students to acknowledge Sorry Day. The day started early with a delicious breakfast. Marie Lynden, Beeliar PS Aboriginal & Islander Education Officer came forward to deliver the ‘Welcome to Country’.

Mr David Scaife, WA Labor Candidate for Cockburn attended and spoke about the importance of Sorry Day. The Beeliar Choir sang ‘Wanjoo’, a Noongar Welcome Song. Later in the day all four Fremantle LDC classes were invited to attach a piece of plastic coloured ribbon on to the Early Childhood Education fence to represent the colours of the Aboriginal flag.

Beeliar News: Storytime, Photos & Lunch

National Simultaneous Storytime… from space!

Today was National Simultaneous Storytime – an event held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). This year was an extra special intergalactic experience with the book being read by astronaut Dr Shannon Walker from the International Space Station! The children from all Beeliar LDC classes came together to listen to Dr Walker read this years NSS book “Give me some space!” by Philip Bunting. The children then broke into groups and had fun getting crafty with some rotational art activities.
